Glenn Close Presents a Dog Named ‘Pax’

Glenn Close may forever be linked to a ‘boiled bunny’ (thanks to her Oscar-nominated performance in Fatal Attraction), but in the real world she is very much an animal lover.

Pax (co-directed by Close and Sarah Harvey, a talented, young NYC-based film editor) tells the story of a dog raised and trained inside an upstate New York women’s correctional facility and eventually given to Bill Campbell — an Iraq war veteran suffering from PTSD.

The film premiered last month at Washington DC’s GI Film Festival and has already caught the attention of Oprah.

Take a look at our interview with Sarah Harvey and footage of Glenn discussing the film.

Having served in the military in Iraq, I never imagined that I could have PTSD,especially after 20 years. However, I do, and the VA is addressing my problem. I wish I had a dog like PAX, however I have been very lucky to get a rescue Doberman that is blind, but understands my every thought. Not only does he help my stress, but I also help his. Three cheers to Glenn Close as a great actress. I look forward to seeing her in the actual movie.

Doug– I am glad you can get through to the VA. I can’t even get anyone to talk too about my hearing loss. I am from the Vietnam Era and was kicked to the curb after 9/11 and 2003. The Congress and VA are starting all over again with the Iraq and Afghanistan Vets presently. Just wait and your era will be treated exactly like us old timers. Good Luck. (US Navy(retired)

I haven’t had the chance to meet Bill and Pax yet, but I just received my Dog, Paddy, from Puppies Behind Bars. He is the most wonderful dog, and he helps me so much, even though we’ve only just begun our long relationship. Even now, i can’t imagine life without him. I can’t thank Gloria and PBB enough for providing me with Paddy. A little background: I served in Iraq twice and in Afghanistan.
