Soldiers Just Gotta Dance

Israeli soldiers may be in trouble after posting a YouTube video of some hot dance moves set to the Ke$ha song “Tik Tok.”

The original video has been removed after prompting comments from the Israeli army:

“This was a joke by the soldiers and the matter is currently being investigated by the battalion commanders,” a terse statement said, with media reports saying those involved were likely to be punished for “inappropriate conduct during a military operation.”

The U.S. Army seems to take a more liberal approach to troop choreography, as evidenced by its mild response to the Afghanistan Ke$ha video and that Iraq Lady Gaga tribute.

All of these videos raise a disturbing question: have modern-day troops adopted the musical taste of twelve-year-old girls or were things always this way? If that’s true, does that mean our boys in Vietnam were secretly listening to Bobby Sherman and the Monkees instead of the Doors and Jimi Hendrix songs we’ve all heard in movies about the war?

Let the boys have fun for Christ Sakes, they are over there fighting, let them let loose! And they can listen to whatever they want! They could listen to the Spice Girls for all I care, they are the ones who have enough balls to go over there in the 1st place. SUPPORT THE TROOPS!

That’s the problem with the U.S. today. We are too freaking relax! tha’t why we wil always be in trouble! What planet are you from and stop smoking that BS.…it’s getting toyour membrane! couldn’t agree with you more! it does my heart good to see those videos and know that they’re still finding ways to keep their spirits up. HUA!

I agree, i have been there done that. When troops are in remote assignments or combat zones and 20 something or plus, music of any kind is a stress relief. LOL our favorite song was “One Night in Bangkok” and break dancing to whatever in dress blues at a Marine Corps Ball. We took heat for it however had UTube been around I am certain it would have been posted.

I think it was a huge stress reliever for the guys to just ” cut loose” for a minute! Although they were in uniform and it may have been innapropriate.. only those soldiers that have seen combat and are on active duty in wartime situations can determine when it is time to take a break and have a little fun… before they crack. I liked it and admire our soldiers in all their glory! Oooooorah!

I served my country in 5 countries and on 5 ships over 20 years, and I’m here to say emphatically that you would do some strange “inappropriate” things, too, if you spent most of your days and nights surrounded by weapons, explosives, machinery, industrial chemicals and constant discomfort and boredom, interrupted occassionally by danger, misery, and ever present uncertainty. Dance, baby, dance.

I thought that was GREAT!!! It’s not like those hypocrite in there offices play music like that for down time.

Durring the 2nd. World War the G.I.‘s used to listen to Tokyo Rose because that’s the only entertainment they had, it relieved the stress and they mocked the propaganda bull shit.

  8. Bob says:

I bet the Commanders are secretly chuckeling under their breath and saying to themselves: “I wish we would have thought of that when we were in the trenches, looks like fun and their rubbing in the face’s of the enemy”.

  9. Sally says:

GREAT!! Having fun when & where you can. Want to see more

Years ago in Southeast Asia, I listened to Wolfman Jack and Chicken Man episodes on the radio. Sure seemed to lighten things up a bit. There wasn’t any dancing, but you’d hear folks trying to talk like Wolfman Jack, and would hear a few “Chicken Man” calls when it came on the radio. Let ‘em have their fun when they have a chance to relax! However, if they’re on live ops…

I love it! I’m Israeli and live in Israel — what I think is really great, that if anyone recognizes it, and if you listen closely at the beginning of the sound, they are doing this dance routine under the muslim call to prayer!! So definitely rubbing it in the faces of the enemy. Very cool. Yes, let them get the stress relief. They deserve it!
