Hitler Was a ‘Rear-Area Pig’

Previously unpublished letters from Adolf Hitler’s WWI regiment reveal that fellow soldiers believed he was a “teaboy” messenger” and a “rear-area pig” rather than the war hero portrayed by Nazi propaganda.

    Hitler was a “etappenschweine”, a rear area pig in German and was in a battalion area, hardly in some front line trench as a messenger. I guess he would be known as a REMF since the Vietnam years. German generals of Prussian heritage in private called him a “Bavarian corporal” which is a sanitized version of what they really meant. REMFs are common–some in the military here served in the Panama Canal, on Catalina Island off LA or better yet, on Bora Bora or did Coast Guard horse patrol up and down the Calif coast for most of WWII.…
