Word comes from Ottawa that a failed Canadian Idol contestant named Khurram Syed Sher has been arrested as part of a group that attempted to build improvised explosive devices and launch attacks in Canada, Iran, Afghanistan, Dubai and Pakistan. It's hard to imagine how some kid who's trying to sing "Complicated" and do the moonwalk in 2008 could find Western values so offensive that he's building bombs less than two years later, but never underestimate the power of Idol rejection .
