China Goes Maverick
As part of our ongoing efforts to keep a global perspective here at UTR, today we have a Russian TV news story on how the Chinese government’s news channel faked a January 23rd report on an air force training exercise by stealing footage from Top Gun.
Fortunately, enough people in China have seen Top Gun enough times that they recognized the footage immediately and the newscasters got busted. The news story isn’t available on the CCTV website and there’s no word as to what happened to the reporter.
