Say Goodbye to DADT

A soldier stationed in Germany who’s posted anonymously on YouTube and Twitter under the name AreYouSurprised marked the end of DADT this morning by filming a phone call where he comes out to his dad back home in Alabama. Dad seems a lot more worried about his son’s drinking during Oktoberfest than he is about news about his kid’s sexual orientation.

In his earlier posts, our video blogger was always careful to hide his identity but he’s right out front showing his face today. No word yet on his real identity but here’s hoping the transition to a new era goes this smoothly for everyone who shares the news with family back home.

I respect this guy for being honest now that he’s allowed to be honest. Before he made this video he was considered a hero by some people. Now that he’s honest about his life the same people will talk negative about him and some will wish death. There’s more gays in this world than you know about. Most of you have them as friends or family but because of your bigot mind they cannot open up to you. The girlfriend was a cover just like the wife and kids are cover for a lot of undercover gays in the military and civilian world.

That USAF Airman really took a risk by coming out. Not by coming out to the military, but by coming out to his parents on YouTube of all places. Imagine if they rejected him there on the spot.

You have to give applause to his father, his mother and to his very public coming out.

It is pretty obvious, this fellow is just as normal as anyone else and quite fit to serve in the military.

I dare anyone to argue that point.

The military doesn’t want gays in their ranks, unfortunately the military was ignored and the congress and and Obama decided to repeal DADT. When I served, gays were taken out back and got the shit kicked out of them.

And back in the late 1940s, the military didn’t want blacks in its ranks. They, too, were taken out back and got the shit kicked out of them. Bigotry is bigotry and those who defend it should be honest and admit they’re bigots.

When I served in the late 1960s and early 1970s, we had a few guys we knew were gay. Didn’t matter to us as long as they did their jobs. We respected them and they respected us.

And this is another reason why society continues to decline.

Jim, define in three cohesive paragraphs NOT using the religious excuse as to why open serving gays & lesbians are unfit for military service?

      I dare you.

  5. Booksie says:

Right. Bring back the good old days when you could call them fags and beat them up. Back when men were men.

    How sad.

Booksie, you don’t think that gays can’t bash back and bash back harder? We have and we do and we will again.
