Put this one in the "so-blindingly-obvious-it-had-to-happen " file. The National Geographic Channel as announced that it's developing a television series based on the hit Navy SEAL action picture Act of Valor.

Nat Geo TV has carved out a successful niche with its military-themed reality shows like Inside Combat Rescue, Battleground Afghanistan and Eyewitness War . The network premiered the dramatic film SEAL Tem Six: The Raid on Osama bin Laden before finding success a movie based on Bill O'Reilly's Killing Lincoln and commissioning an upcoming film based on the follow-up best-seller Killing Kennedy.

The series will be written by Band of Brothers and Killing Lincoln screenwriter Erik Jendresen and repurposes the Act of Valor brand from Navy SEALs to the PJs, the Air Force para-rescue teams that were the focus of Inside Combat Rescue.

Even though Valor director Scott Waugh has moved on to direct the forthcoming movie based on the Need for Speed video game, his Bandito Brothers production company will be involved in making the series. Production is scheduled to start in early 2014, so we're probably a year away from seeing the show on Nat Geo.
