A First Look at 'Unbroken'

Louie Zamperini competed for the USA in the 1936 Olympics and later served as an Air Force Lieutenant during World War II. After his plane was shot down over the Pacific, Zamperini survived 47 days at sea before spending three years in a Japanese prisoner of war camp. His incredible story was chronicled in Laura Hillenbrand's bestseller Unbroken and that book is now the basis for a new movie directed by Angelia Jolie and written by Joel and Ethan Coen.

No typos there. The Big Lebowski and No Country for Old Men writer/directors have written the screenplay and the Oscar-winning actress has been given the reins for a big-budget historical action picture after her well-received feature-directing debut In the Land of Blood and Honey.

Not to spoil the plot, but Louie Zamperini is still alive and well at 93 and he narrates this three-minute trailer that debuted during the NBC Olympics coverage over the weekend. Jack O'Connell, a British actor relatively unknown to American audiences, plays Zamperini in the movie.

Unbroken will be in theaters this Christmas.
