On Lady Michelle Obama will make an appearance on NCIS on May 3rd in an episode filmed inside the White House, something no other TV series has ever done before. Her cameo appearance (as herself) is to promote Joining Forces, the campaign designed to make connections between the public and private sectors to help the families of military veterans.

NCIS executive producer Gary Glasberg told TV Guide:

At the end of the day, this was really about supporting Joining Forces. It’s something that we’ve been aware of and conscious of in our research and storytelling, and this was an opportunity to really focus on it, so that people can be aware of everything it’s done. When we reached out to express our interest in the organization, the opportunity came up for the first lady to participate. Originally the idea was for her to come and spend some time with us, and then, to quote them, they invited us to come and film ‘in their house.’ And that turned out to be just a dream come true for us.

Fans of the show will want to know that special agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) takes a young witness along to the White House to meet the First Lady because the kid's family is being helped by Joining Forces. You'll have to tune in to find out if the never-impressed Gibbs drops his trademark gruff demeanor during the meeting.
