Even though there's still an official ban on transgender military service, more 15,500 active duty men and women identify as transgender. The filmmakers behind the documentary TransMilitary want to help end that band by allowing those servicemembers to tell their stories. They're trying to raise $89,500 to complete the movie with a Kickstarter campaign that's got just over a week to go. You can check out their pitch video below.

The films tell the story of men and women who come out to their command offices and to top brass inside the Pentagon. Since transgender rights are a flashpoint issue all around the United States right now, the film is on topic and incredibly timely. If the documentary meets its fundraising goals, the filmmakers aim to have it completed this fall.
