The 808 Audio Hex TL Bluetooth wireless speaker is a solid performer that sells for around $80. The plastic speaker has a metal grille look and comes with an AC adapter that also charges the 10-hour built-in battery.
It’s not tiny nor is it huge. 8″ tall, 5 1/2″ wide and 3″ deep, it’s more of a move-around-the-house speaker than a portable. The Hex TL has audio cues when you turn the speaker on and off and when you successfully pair the speaker with your device.
There’s no speakerphone capability and no aptX support: this is a basic speaker that performs it’s simple job well. There’s a surprising amount of bass and the overall sound is good for the price range. The speaker gets around 10 hours on a full battery charge.
One big plus for the Hex TL: you can pick one up at Walmart as a gift or on your way to a party. Most tech we review has to be ordered online. You can probably buy one of these in-store today.
