Foo Fighters Strike Back at Westboro

The Westboro “Baptist” Church may be best known around here for their inexcusable behavior at military funerals, but they’ve never limited their hate and craziness to just grieving families. Last weekend, they took their attention-seeking caravan to a Foo Fighters concert in Kansas City.

Dave Grohl & company decided to stand right up to the hecklers and donned hillbilly attire for a live street performance of “Keepin It Clean,” the satirical, pro-gay-rights country song that had pissed off Westboro in the first place. Grohl taunted the marchers, proclaiming “I don’t care if you’re black or white or purple or green, whether you’re Pennsylvanian or Transylvanian, Lady Gaga or Lady Antebellum, it takes all kinds! Men loving women, and women loving men, and men loving men, and women loving women … God bless America!”

Since this week is the 20th anniversary of Nevermind, it’s worth noting that Grohl’s decision to confront Westboro is exactly that the sort of thing Kurt Cobain would’ve done himself. Nice move, Foos.

Westboro shows what America isn’t about. They don’t stand up for the average American with their hate. They feel the only place they can show their kind of behavior is at military funerals. They have yet to realize and don’t care the funeral is private and they aren’t welcomed. My hat’s off to the Foo Fighters and may they play loud and strong.

Since Westboro doesn’t like America and we are doomed, will they be leaving soon?

  3. SKay says:

Wouldn’t it just be nice if they (meaning the Wesboro idjits) did live the United States! Let them go elsewhere.….bet they’d find plenty of people willing to ship ‘em out for free!

    The video is awsome.

  5. Russ Kennedy says:

Too funny, the lady at the end says she loves that song. Maybe they Foo’s won one over.…lol

    • Sharon says:

I don’t think she converted. She’s an idiot, she has been on things before. She probably just couldn’t understand what he was singing except for the Keep it Clean and Momma said, Daddy said. She doesn’t live in the real world and totally zoned out to the men loving men, women loving women (we all like to see that…) part. BTW I loved that!

NEVER!!! but the funny thing is …the lady who said that is a daughter who takes Law Enforcement to court whenever they feel threatened (see my comment below)

I do not agree with that kind of life but they have every right to do what they want and its not for us to judge them. God gave us the right to chose and he will judge if we do wrong.

    • Retired AF WSO says:

Mr. Walton, perhaps we don’t agree with your kind of life or your “GOD”.

Just do us a favor and quit dictating our lives.

  7. Who says they have “the right” to do this? If my husband and I want to have *** in the middle of the street, do we have that right? Absolutely not. Some things are indecent in our society. Spreading hate is indecent and should not be permitted.

who is funding this so called church group? I was at a funeral in Pierce Nebraska this past Saturday. The only group I saw was the awesome Patriot Guard Riders Showing respect and honor to the soldier and the soldiers family. I think the citizens of good country blocked these hooligans out. Our God that teaches love and forgiveness wouldn’t endorse a so called church group to represent his teachings. Thank God for our soldiers and God Bless America.

    • dizneluver says:

They get their money from suing law enforcement when ever they feel threatened at protests.

And this is why you will never see a Patriot Guard Rider ever confront these crazies!!

Besides the Patriot Guard Riders (I am inactive member) are always there for the family and are there at the family’s invitation regardless if the crazies are there or not.

      • Kat says:

I am a current PGR and was told that we do not confront them EVER because we need to show that we are better than them. It would also be highly disrespectful to the family/friends of the deceased to try and start anything at the service/memorial. But your point is excellent as well; confronting them would only give their organization more “teeth,” so to speak; and would open up the opportunity for them to sue us.

I’m a fundamental christian and don’t believe that homosexuality is right but that church isn’t based or following Jesus’ teaching. he told us not to throw pearls before swine, (meaning not to argue with fools) and AFAIK Jesus never attacked sinners except the self righteous pharisees. Maybe these Westboro church people qualify, but a grieving family doesn’t. It pains me when people claim to be christian and engage in such unchristian behavior. there’s one around here, he’s a fool as well.

They have the right to express their views, vile as they are. The First Amendment protects idiots saying idiotic things, just as much as it protects wisdom from the wise.

But everyone else absolutely has the right to judge them for their views. If someone stood up and said Bin Laden was a hero and Hitler should have won, wouldn’t people judge him? Of course they would, and rightly so.

Personally, I judge them as idiots. And almost feel sorry for them. To live a life with that much hate in your heart would be an awful thing, I think. But I said “almost”… not quite there yet…

ALL I GOTTA SAY IS …

WAY TO GO FOO FIGHTERS!!!! :)

GOD BLESS AMERICA AND ALL OUR MILITARY HEROES!!!!

They do have the right to protest within the law but you know what maybe some ought to exercise there right to protest them out side there homes and place of worship. Whats good for them can be used against them also.

  12. UnK says:

Its a damn shame that our govt has made it clear that these soulless abominations are allowed to spew hatred toward fellow Americans. I know they were given the right to do this in an 8–1 decision by the Supreme Court. What I don’t understand is that they allow this group to do this under a fails pretense. Meaning that they get away with it by saying it’s a 1st amendment right, which it is as long as it is peaceful. Nothing they do is peaceful and is littered with hate. You can see and read it everywhere they go, and now that they are protected, they are going to continue to do so. Our Supreme Court needs to re-look at what they have done.

  13. Jerry says:

C’mon, please, there HAS to be someone out there flying Predator Drones that can “accidentally” fly one over westboro and “accidentally” release a couple of hellfires … right ?

  14. Redleg says:

Here’s a thought, why not begin holding counter protests when they have their “services”? Think about it, they get to hold their so called “services”, which were reported on and are nothing more than family meetings where the old fart who runs this insane asylum talks about hatred and doom at a whole new level. There is no love in this so called “church”. So imagine what would happen if they were to be bombarded by protests on a continuos basis! And since no one is stopping them from holding their “services” it’s just like when they protest at funerals. Pay them with the same coin as they are false prophets. Man they would freak out and sure enough, guaranteed that one of them would loose their already warped mind, and bingo ca-ching, instant counter law suit! And then the ACLU goes bananas because they don’t know who to defend!

    • Russ Kennedy says:

People have protested at their church. These “Christians” (and I use that term VERY loosely) called the local police to have them removed from their streets. Their “church” is hidden behind walls (Waco style). There’s a video on YouTube showing the whole thing. Little cowards can’t take what they dish out.

  15. Retired AF WSO says:

I once saw a bumper sticker that read: ” I won’t think in your church but please don’t preach in our schools”

WBC is an obnoxious “First Amendment protected hate speach” church sure gets a lot of attention, their single focus on H-O-M-O-***-U-A-L-I-T-Y is weird. Even more weird the offspring of their cult leader for the most part have earned law degrees simply to fight for their right to make these ugly public displays at the funerals of our fallen military members.

It simply amazes me why some heterosexuals are SO obsessed about what others (gays) do in the privacy of their bedrooms. Why this gross obsession? Why do they focus only on the particular physical mechanics of (gay) ***? Same *** partners are more than a *** act. Are these people experts on human ***uality or deluded by religious teachings?

As an agnostic who totally rejects organized religion of all faiths I’m just asking.

It would be nice to hear an intelligent argument regarding why (gay) *** is so wrong ““EXCLUDING”” the ““RELIGIOUS”” reason. Spare me the “AIDS” thing too.

You see, when people like the members of the WBC preach that everyone else is wrong and only their way is correct, I start to think ““PSYCHOPATH”” and all the craziness that it entails.

Full disclosure: Me — gay retired Air Force Officer who is in a long term relationship with an active duty Air Force Officer soon to retire and he wants to stay in the closet after the fall of DADT. His choice.
