Stars Earn Stripes: Girls With Guns
Stars Earn Stripes wrapped up its run on NBC and it turns out that the “celebrities” who fared best in the competition were actually athletes. That’s probably not a surprise to anyone who’s watched Dancing With the Stars but it turns out that those athletes also happened to be women. There’s a lot of online discussion online about whether women make better snipers than men but it’s pretty apparent that at least some women can handle a weapon better than an Ivy League football player and a four-time Iron Dog champion.
The team WWE wrestler Eve Torres and retired Green Beret Grady Powell edged out Olympic skier Picabo Street and retired Navy SEAL Brent Gleeson on the final challenge to win an extra $100K for the USO, the charity that Torres played for in the competition.
Aside from a few solemn moments were the participants felt obliged to talk about sacrifice, the last two challenges were a lot more relaxed and everyone seemed to be having a much better time than they did back in the first episode. Having a Lifelock sponsored challenge seemed a little weird; with the number of times Gen. Clark says the company named, it starts to feel like you’re watching an identity-theft infomercial at 3am.
Ratings didn’t match what NBC was looking for and I doubt the show will be back next summer. It’s too bad the producers are expensive guys like Survivor’s Mark Burnett and Law & Order’s Dick Wolf, because it would be a lot of fun to see the show move to G4 next year so they could replace the “celebrities” with game developers from Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, Assassin’s Creed and Battlefield. That would be a show worth watching.

Great Job Grady and Eva, you guys really rocked and showed great team work. Having taught firearms in and out of the military for over 20 years I can tell you it’s easier to teach a female since most of them are eager to learn and don’t let their egos get in the way of soaking up the instruction. As a SF senior weapons sergeant this was right up Grady’s ally teaching and mentoring Eva in tactics and weapons. I really enjoyed watching the challenges and caught myself cheering on “my” team. The athletes did a great job with the physical parts of the challenges and Todd Palin was a hoss just getting it done in the challenges. Thanks for the entertainment and for supporting the charities!
Ha, that is quite an idea for a season 2 on G4, I would watch it. I thought it was great how two women took first and second in a military competition. @JMPMASTER that is an interesting theory you have about it being easier to teach women, and can explain why they won. I had totally forgotten that the final was last night until a coworker from Dish called me to talk about it. I was so mad that I had missed it, but luckily my Hopper automatically recorded it as part of Primetime Anytime. It was a really good show, with ups, downs and good competition where you didn’t know who would win until the end.
I believe that Girls should have Guns. Not just in War Zones in the Military. Too many Girls become Victims of Criminals in America. Mostly men Criminals. Younger or Older. I think, like in Israel, if American Women can own a Gun Legal, that they have every right to pull the Trigger on Criminals who have no Respect for Human Rights, or their Victims, and how it Destroys their Families for Life. Killing is a last Resort for Self Defense. A Bullet to the Shoulder or the Knee, for example, can restrain Criminals until Law Enforcement Officials Arrive. If just one Lady had a Gun at that “Dark Knight Rises” Place, not too long ago. That Lone Wolf may never fired even a Shot, a Russian Saying in the past. Sincerely, Johnny. There are professional male and female snipers, more male snipers though, it doesn’t mean Males are genetically made to be able to be a better sniper than Women or vice versa, that’s stupid.

The most enemy kills of any sniper at anytime, anywhere was a Russian female sniper in WWII. I am glad to report after retirement she lived long and prospered.
She had confirmed kills in the 300 range. I think its because women are protective and the old mantra don’t **** off a momma bear. I read up on her and I seem to think she had a posse ; ) at her disposal. Ya know a small Russian unit.
Nobody asked me, but I don’t think women should be in combat. Yes they are extremely effective and extremely capable but my thoughts run deep and it would be too much to get into it on this forum.
